Everybody has their favorite way of monitoring RSS feeds, whether it's in Google Reader, via a desktop client such as FeedDemon or using some other application. If you still haven't found the perfect solution, however, why not try a Firefox add-on?
InfoRSS is a very simple and unobtrusive application that appears as a ticker tape at the bottom or top of your screen, or in the taskbar. The add-on has bunches of configuration options, which means that you can change just about any aspect, from what icons it displays in the ticker to what color the background is. In fact, this is actually one of InfoRSS' weaker points - there are so many complex and unfamiliar configuration options that it can actually be a little intimidating.
InfoRSS comes pre-loaded with a small selection of RSS feeds, but of course you can add or remove whatever you want. Configuring the feeds is actually fairly simple, especially if you keep away from the more complex options. There are actually a few great features among these more advanced choices, such as the ability to automatically sync with an FTP and import OPML files, but you might want to get to know InfoRSS a bit better before you tackle them.
The ticker tape layout is not for everyone, but if you like it, InfoRSS is a great program. It's subtle, comprehensive and, best of all, you can mold it completely to your own tastes - what more could you ask for?
InfoRSS is a great in-browser RSS manager for fans of ticker tapes.
